दुर्गा पूजा — बंगालचा सर्वांत मोठा सण; आश्विन शुक्ल षष्ठीपासून दशमीपर्यंत पाच दिवस. महिषासुरमर्दिनी दुर्गेच्या मूर्तीची पंडालमध्ये स्थापना; षष्ठी (बोधन), सप्तमी (नवपत्रिका प्रवेश), अष्टमी (संधी पूजा), नवमी (हवन), दशमी (विसर्जन व सिंदूर खेळा). महाराष्ट्रात तितक्या मोठ्या प्रमाणावर साजरी होत नसली तरी महानगरांत बंगाली समाजाद्वारे भव्य पंडाल; मुंबई, पुणे, नागपूरमध्ये विशेष.
दुर्गा पूजा — महत्त्व
According to the Markandeya Purana, Durga was created by the combined energy of the gods to slay Mahishasura. She fought for nine days and killed him on the tenth (Vijayadashami). The festival also marks Durga's annual visit to her parental home with her children.

- On Mahalaya, listen to Chandi path or Mahishasura Mardini; invoke the goddess.
